The FN High Power pistol, model of 2022(USA)

The legendary FN High Power pistol was developed in Belgium by the famous American gun genius John Browning, and perfected by his talented apprentice Dieudonne Saive at the Fabrique Nationale Herstal arms factory in Liege, Belgium. It was in the continuous production at the FN factories in Europe (Belgium and later Portugal) from 1935 until 2018. Clones and copies of the FN High Power pistol were (or still are) produced in the Bulgaria, Canada, Hungary, Turkey and USA.

In recognition of the demand of the American handgun market for more classic models, in 2022 the FN America LLC, the US-based subsidiary of the Fabrique Nationale Herstal, introduced the new and improved version of the FN High Power pistol. This new weapon combines classic looks and handling of the first half of the twentieth century with modern manufacturing technologies and improved ergonomics. It must be noted that there are certain dimensional and mechanical differences between the new “American” High Power pistol and the classic European pistol of the same name, and there is no interchangeability of parts between these two handguns.

The new FN High Power pistol, model of 2022, is of all-steel construction. It features short recoil operated, locked breech design. In a departure from the original construction, the locking is achieved by a single lug on the barrel that engages the enlarged ejection port in the slide. Other changes include addition of the ambidextrous slide release levers and a separate disassembly lever on the right side of the frame. Firing mechanism is of the classic single action type, with an external hammer. Ambidextrous manual safety locks the hammer only in the cocked condition. Pistol is available from the factory in several finishes and can be customized with several variations of the factory-made plastic grip panels. New magazine is also of steel construction, and holds as many as 17 rounds in two rows. Magazine release button is located at the base of the trigger guard and can be easily set to be operated by either hand. The front and rear sights are dovetailed to the slide and can be easily replaced or adjusted.
