Mauser 86SR sniper rifle was developed by Mauser Werke duringmid-1980s as a further evolution of the Mauser 66 SP sniper rifle.The Mauser 86 SR offered more firepower (thanks to a detachable magazineof bigger capacity), and better tactical flexibility. It was used by anumber of European police agencies and by Israeli military and securityservices.

Mauser 86SR sniper rifle employs a manually operatedrotary bolt action with dual front locking lugs. barrel is free-floatedand fitted with effective muzzle brake. Stock is made either fromlaminated wood or from fiberglass plastic, with adjustable buttpad andcheek rest. Bottom of the forend was equipped with special rail forattachment of bipod. Feed was from 9-round detachable box magazines. Noopen sights were provided on rifle by default, and it was usuallyfitted with Hensoldt telescope sight.
