The CADEX CDX-40 sniper rifle is a dedicated long range weapon, developed in Canada by a company called Cadex defence. This rifle is intended for shooting at targets located well beyond one kilometer mark and can engage both enemy personnel and unarmored vehicles such as cars. It is used by Special Forces snipers of Canada and France, and in several other countries as well. This rifle also can be used for civilian long range sport shooting, such as the “King of two miles” matches, where the farthest target is set at a distance of two miles, or slightly more than 3 200 meters.

A CADEX CDX-40 sniper rifle is built on a proprietary manually operated bolt action, which is sized to accept ammunition up to .408 Cheytac. Another popular option for this rifle is the recently developed .375 EnABELR cartridge, which is designed specifically to launch highly optimized, high ballistic coefficient VLD projectiles at relatively moderate but stable velocities, ensuring maximum accuracy at extended ranges.

A CADEX CDX-40 sniper rifle is built on a steel receiver, which is rigidly mounted into the aluminum alloy chassis. Manually operated rotary bolt has three radial locking lugs. Ammunition is fed from detachable box magazines, made of stamped steel. Each magazine holds seven rounds of ammunition in a single row. To ensure change of calibers, barrel and magazine adapter can be swapped by an end user. For civilian shooting, CADEX also makes a single shot version of this rifle with no magazine.

Rifle features a side-folding aluminum alloy shoulder stock with adjustable cheek rest and but pad. Sighting equipment (high power telescope sights, or night / IR sights or adapters) can be mounted using an integrated Picatinny rail, which can be ordered with 20, 40 or 40 MOA slope to ensure sufficient adjustments for extra-long range shooting. To decrease felt recoil, barrels are threaded and provided with efficient muzzle brakes. For special operations, muzzle brakes can be replaced with special screw-on sound suppressors (silencers).
