The TARA TM-9 SMG submachine gun is the newest product of the TARA company from Montenegro (formerly part of Yugoslavia). This gun is based on the 5.56mm TM-4 assault rifle, produced by the same company, which is more or less a clone of the US M4 carbine. TARA also produces the well regarded TM9 Pistol.
The TARA TM-9 submachine gun is a simple blowback operated weapon, firing from a closed bolt. It features an aluminum alloy upper receiver and a polymer lower receiver with integral magazine housing compatible with 9mm Glock magazines. All controls, including safety / fire mode selector, charging handle, forward assist button, magazine release and bolt hold-open release are copied from the US M4 carbine. Telescoped (non-folding) shoulder stock is also an american heritage. The weapon is equipped with the usual set of Picatinny rails on the top and around the forend, to host various sights and other accessories.
