Kalashnikov AK-19 assault rifle (Russia)

Kalashnikov AK-19 assault rifle is the most recent version of the Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifle family, which was adopted by Russian army in 2018 and is now in full production. Kalashnikov AK-19 is an export-only version, chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO ammunition. It also features most recent upgrades to AK-12 family, which were implemented following initial fielding of the parent 5.45mm rifle by Russian army.

Kalashnikov AK-19 rifle is a gas operated, select-fire weapon which uses traditional Kalashnikov action. Its new features include free-floating forend with Picatinny rails, non-removable gas tube with maintenance plug at the front, detachable top cover with integrated Picatinny rail. AK-19 also features new, improved shoulder stock, made from polymer. Stock folds forward and to the left to save space, and can be adjusted for length of pull, with 6 positions. New ergonomic pistol grip is made from polymer with integrated trigger guard. Hollow base of the pistol grip contains a cleaning kit container.

Container release button is located at the base of the trigger guard. New rear sight is of aperture (diopter) type; range adjustments are made through a horizontal drum below the sight, which has settings between 100 and 800 meters. Windage adjustments for zeroing the rifle require a special screwdriver which is included into the cleaning and maintenance kit provided with each gun. Rifle is fitted with non-detachable flash hider / compensator, and a proprietary sound suppressor (silencer) can be easily installed over the standard muzzle device. Other accessories may include a knfie-bayonet and a 40mm underbarrel grenade launcher. Kalashnikov AK-19 rifle is compatible with 30-round box magazines originally produced for 5.56mm Kalashnikov AK-101 rifle.
