The VSK-100 assault rifle is manufactured in Republic of Belarus by the “Kidma-tec” Ltd. It was officially adopted by the Ministry of Defense of Belarus in 2021 and is now issued to various units in Belarusian military.
VSK-100 assault rifle is produced using parts and know-how, supplied to Belarus by a Russian company VPO Molot. In fact, a VSK-100 assault rifle is a select-fire, military-only modification of the semi-automatic “Vepr” carbine, produced in Russia by VPO Molot for civilian sales.
Mechanically and in most of its appearance VSK-100 follows a typical Kalashnikov AKM variant, with a notable exception of a sturdier and heavier stamped steel receiver, patterned after a Kalashnikov RPK machine gun. This should be of no surprise as the VPO Molot was the only manufacturer of RPK and RPK-74 light machine guns for Soviet and Russian militaries. Otherwise a VPK-100 is a fairy typical Kalashnikov variant, if a bit heavier than usual, with minor appearance changes. It uses “Vepr”-style side-folding shoulder stock, and has both a Picatinny rail on the hinged top cover and a side scope rail pinned to the left receiver wall. It can use all types of magazines compatible with 7.62x39mm Kalashnikov variants, from earliest AK and AKM to the most modern AK-103, AK-203 or AK-15.
Several years ago Kidma-tec company also displayed a bull-pup variant of this rifle, known as a VSK-100BP, but it seems that it never went past the prototype stage.
