The VPO-213 “Vepr-1V” shotgun is manufactured by Russian company “Molot Oruzhie”. This weapon is peculiar to Russian market, and is sold in Russia under the “shotgun” license, which is much easier to obtain than a “rifle” license.
The VPO-209 shotgun is based on the 7.62x39mm “Vepr” semi-automatic carbine, re-barreled with new smooth-bore barrel of .366 (9.55mm) nominal caliber with last 120mm being rifled (so called “Paradox” bore). It uses Kalashnikov type gas operated action. Gun is equipped with side-folding shoulder stock, hinged top cover with Picatinny rail. Magazines are modified from standard 3o-round 7.62mm AKM magazines by restricting capaity to 10 rounds and modifying feed path for a wider cartridge case.
