The EM124 riot shotgun (China)

The EM124 riot shotgun is manufactured in China and is exported through the state-owned China Jing An Import & Export Corporation. It is intended primarily as a specialized law enforcement weapon for anti-riot use, and is optimized for firing various less-lethal 12-gauge ammunition types, such as rubber buckshot and slugs and tear gas loads. However, the EM124 shotgun also can be used to fire breaching loads and the fully lethal ammunition loaded with solid slugs or buckshot. It is interesting to note that in its action and design this weapon bears certain similarities to the US-made M26 MASS shotgun.

The EM124 shotgun is a manually operated firearm. Unlike most such guns, it uses a horizontally sliding bolt handle to cycle the action. The relatively large charging handle is foldable for a more convenient storage and transportation, and can be set at the either side of the gun. The bolt locks to the barrel using a vertically sliding lug that engages the locking notch in the barrel extension.
The EM124 shotguns uses detachable box magazines that permit rapid change of ammunition types, i.e. a quick switch between the breach and buckshot loads, or between the tear-gas and rubber buckshot, or between any other variety of 12-gauge loads. Due to its primary law enforcement anti-riot use the gun is equipped with a relatively short barrel which is only 10.2 inches long. It also features a pistol grip and an M4-style telescoped butstock. The top of the receiver is provided with an integral Picatinny rail for simple installation of various sights or other accessories. The manual safety levers are ambidextrous and are located at the front of the trigger guard, and the both sides of the gun.
