Baikal MP-155K semi-automatic shotgun was developed and put into production in 2014 by Russian Izhevsk Mechanical plant (IzhMekh), which is now part of the “Kalashnikov” concern. This “tactical” shotgun was developed from conventional MP-155 semi-automatic sporting shotgun, to compete with certain Turkish-made guns (such as Akdal MKA-1919) and Izhmash Saiga-12 shotguns on US market. However, current political situation (as of late 2014) precludes any import of Russian guns into USA, and at this moment (December 2014) MP-155K is only available on its domestic Russian market.
Baikal MP-155K semi-automatic shotgun is a gas operated weapon with annular gas piston, located around the tube which runs below the barrel. It features self-adjustable gas system. To enhance flexibility of the gun, its barrel is equipped with removable choke system. Receiver is made from aluminum alloy, furniture (stock with integrated pistol grip and magazine housing, forend) is made from polymer. Removable box magazines hold 5 rounds each and are not compatible with other Russian 12Ga box-fed shotguns such as Saiga 12 or Vepr 12. Standard sights include protected front sight and rifle-type adjustable rear sight, built into the removable carrying handle. Top of receiver is provided with integrated Picatinny rail.
