Taurus ST-12 pump action shotgun is produced in Brazil in several versions, intended either for hunting or for police use and home defense. Key differences between these two versions are in the shape of the stock and in the profile and length of the barrel.

Taurus ST-12 shotgun is based on the proven and popular American Mossberg 590 shotgun, with minor changes. It uses similar manually operated pump action, with tubular magazine below the barrel. Receiver is made from aluminum alloy, stocks are made from polymer.
