The 7.65×25 Borchardt cartridge was designed in Germany around 1893 for the Borchardt C-93 pistol. It had a brass, rimless case of bottlenecked shape, loaded with a jacketed or semi-jacketed bullet weighing 5.5 grams.
Muzzle velocity was about 400 m/s. The 7.65mm Borchardt cartridge is dimensionally similar to the later 7.63×25 Mauser cartridge, but the Borchardt round is loaded with a less powerful charge than its descendant.
