This very early automatic grenade round was designed in the USSR between 1935 and 1937 by the OKB-16 design bureau led by Yakov Taubin. It was intended for use by the unsucessful Taubin automatic grenade launcher.
This round consisted of a very short (17mm long) rimless grooved case, loaded with a 40.8mm fragmentation grenade. Grenade casing was made from steel, with brass driving band at the rear. Grenade weight was 0.59 kg, muzzle velocity around 120 m/s.
