First introduced in 2003, Tikka T3 family of bolt action rifles represents high quality, but affordable line of bolt action rifles available in a wide number of versions and calibers, suitable for most applications, including hunting, target shorting and sniping. Since 2016, Tikka produces the T3x line of rifles, which is an improved version with updated ergonomics and certain improvements in the bolt and the receiver. Canadian Rangers use a modified Tikka T3 Compact Tactical rifle for their Arctic patrol duties, under designation of C-19. Those rifles are produced in Canada by Colt Canada factory under license from Finland.
All “Tactical” rifles from Tikka, as well as most of T3 hunting models, are capable of good accuracy, usually 1 MOA or better.
Tikka T3 rifles are manually operated, rotary bolt firearms. They use fairy traditional bolt design with dual front locking lugs and 70-degree throw. Receiver is made from steel, and the bolt is made from stainless steel. Pre-2016 T3 Tactical rifles featured single-stack magazines with capacity for 5 or 6 rounds, depending on the caliber. Tikka T3x Tactical rifles introduced 10-round magazines. While commercial Tikka rifles may feature wooden or laminated stocks of various designs, T3 Tactical rifles were produced with polymer stocks of more or less traditional configuration. Tikka T3x Compact Tactical also features polymer stock, but has removable semi-pistol grip inserts of various configurations. T3x TAC A1 rifle features an aluminum alloy chassis-type stock with M-LOK forend, AR-15 compatible pistol grip and an AR-15 compatible stock tube, mounted on the side-folding hinge.
