The Haenel RS9 sniper rifle is a dedicated long range sniper weapon, built for .338 Lapua Magnum ammunition. It is produced in Germanyby C.G.Haenel company. As a G29, it is officially adopted by German Armed forces, including their Kommando Spezialkrafte (KSK) and the naval Kommando Spezialkrafte Marine (KSM) sniper units.

 

The Haenel RS9 sniper rifle is a manually operated bolt action rifle with rotary bolt which has 6 radial lugs at the front. Receiver is machined from solid steel, stock is made from aluminum alloy with integral bedding blocks. Commercial RS9 rifles are offered with fixed (non-foldable) adjustable shoulder stocks, with side-folding stocks offered as an option. Military G29 rifles are issued with side-folding stocks. Rifles are fed using detachable box magazines holding 10 rounds of ammunition each. Muzzle end of the cold hammer forged barrel is provided with treads that can accept muzzle brakes, flash hiders or sound suppressors (silencers). No iron sights are provided on the rifle, and it is equipped with integral Mil-STD (Picatinny) rails that can accept a wide variety of day and night optics. Military G29 rifles are issued with Steiner T5Xi 5-25×56 telescope sights.
